What’s it like at Storm Creek’s Minnesota headquarters? We’re glad you asked!
We’re located in Eagan, a suburb of the Twin Cities a few miles south of Saint Paul. Not far to our west is the confluence of the Mississippi and Minnesota Rivers. The Mississippi continues on as it winds to our north and then east before heading south.
There are dozens (maybe hundreds?) of lakes within a few miles of us, as well as acres of parkland, golf courses and other green spaces. And yet we’re within minutes of bustling urban life and all the Twin Cities has to offer.
We think we’re pretty well situated.
Storm Creek’s Showroom
When you walk through our entrance you’re immediately in our Showroom. We have a variety of our best-selling products on display for visitors to see and handle for themselves. These are switched out depending on the season, so you’re likely to find it looking different the next time you come.
We also display our “Bottle to Better” process here in the Showroom. It’s always fun for our visitors and customers to get a hands-on look at this process we use in every single one of our garments. It’s one thing to read about how we get plastic beads, flakes and yarns out of bottles—it’s another thing to see it!
In the center of our Showroom is a large island with chairs around it for meetings and small gatherings, whether planned or impromptu.
Our Departments
As we’ve grown over the years we’ve been able to move from contracting out much of our “inner workings” to hiring and establishing our own in-house teams.
Behind the Showroom are the spaces that house our people in their various departments. Our Design and Marketing teams interact together often, so are quite close in proximity. Then we have our Sales and Customer Experience teams, along with Human Resources, IT and Accounting.
The Warehouse is in the same building as our offices, and it won’t be too long before we’ll need more space as we continue to grow.
Our Commitment to Re-Use
When we moved from our original headquarters in Hastings, Minnesota (about 20 miles from here) we were very intentional with the design of our space. As we expanded in both personnel and square footage, we did our best to buy items second-hand when possible—things like chairs, desks and cubical walls.
A great example is in our staff kitchen. When we wanted to include several small tables for employee happy hours and other events, we made them out of pallets from our warehouse.
Not only did we spend less on those perfectly good items—or use what we already had—but we kept them from going into a landfill somewhere.
Our Commitment to Sustainability
Another item we were happy to include in our kitchen is our Bevi machine. Instead of a machine loaded with plastic bottles of soda, juice and water Bevi provides us with a variety of water choices minus the bottles. (We have our own supply of glasses in the cabinets, or team members can bring their own water bottle.)
According to the Bevi folks, we save up to 50 thousand bottles and cans a year. We love that! The machine lets us choose between “still” or sparkling water in a variety of all-natural flavors and enhancements.
So our commitment to sustainability isn’t just with our fabrics and finished garments—we choose it wherever we can in our own headquarters.
The Storm Creek Atmosphere
The atmosphere we’ve cultivated among our team is highly-professional, energetic and fast-paced—yet friendly and welcoming. In fact, it wouldn’t take you long to learn how several family members are connected among us.
We want to be a place where people love to come to work and have buy-in with our commitments to sustainability, generosity and community involvement.
The doors of our Leadership Team’s offices are always open to our employees, whether in their direct department or not. We encourage curiosity, ideas and innovation. We’ve made it a habit to never be satisfied with past achievements, but always look for ways to improve.
As you walk through our various departments you’ll come to a large wall mural that’s an apt visual of what we’re about—the outdoors along with “Seekers of Better”.
