About St. Lukes
Our presence is felt within our community and beyond. Rather than have an 'outreach' line item in the church budget, our programs are supported and maintained by money raised throughout the year at fundraising events.
Food Shelf: Donations are brought to the altar each week by the children and then taken to the local food shelf. Our help to feed the hungry allows us to live our faith and teaches children an important lesson.
Outreach ministries: Many people at St. Luke's are involved in a variety of outreach ministries. Hastings Family Service is our primary local focus, but our outreach team continually raises funds and works to meet other specific needs within our community as well as for disaster relief and extreme poverty in Minnesota, the US, and the world.
Santa's Secret Shop: An outreach project begun in 2011 that takes place in December. We welcome nearly 200 volunteers from many parts of our community to serve over 250 children throughout our school district. All gifts are donated and must be new or not visibly used. We distribute 800 - 1000 "stocking stuffer" gifts and enable children to shop for gifts for their siblings and parents.
