At Storm Creek, giving back is at the heart of everything we do. That's why we're proud to celebrate another year alongside Big Brothers Big Sisters Twin Cities, one of the incredible nonprofit partners helping us build stronger communities right here at home.
Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) creates life-changing relationships by pairing adult mentors ("Bigs") with youth ("Littles") for friendship, guidance, and growth. Our partnership began in 2020, and every year it grows into something even more meaningful.
Raising a Glass for Mentorship: The Big Social
This year, we teamed up with Union 32 for a Big Social with Break the Bubble, an evening dedicated to celebrating mentorship and inspiring new volunteers.
Throughout the month of July, Union 32 donated $1 to Big Brothers Big Sisters Twin Cities for every Happy Hour IPA sold, and Storm Creek matched that donation dollar for dollar.
The best part? 15 people signed up to become a Big that evening. That's 15 new mentors ready to make a difference in the life of a young person, and we couldn't be prouder to have played a part.
Shop With Purpose at Our Warehouse Sale
Once again, BBBS Twin Cities is our featured nonprofit partner for VIP Night at our annual Warehouse Sale on November 5. 100% of VIP ticket proceeds and 10% of sales from the evening go to support their mission.
Can't make VIP Night? You can still give back. On November 6, 7, 13, and 14, shoppers can choose to have 10% of their purchase donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters Twin Cities.
Every purchase is a chance to help more kids find a mentor who believes in them.
About Big Brothers Big Sisters Programs
BBBS Twin Cities offers a range of mentoring programs designed to support youth at every stage of their development. Here's a look at how they're making a difference.
Youth Mentoring
The heart of BBBS is one-to-one mentoring. Through Community Mentoring, youth ages 8–13 are matched with caring adults who spend time together in the community doing activities they both enjoy.
They also offer Site-Based Mentoring, where mentors meet with youth at a consistent time and place, like a school, workplace, or college, throughout the academic year. One site-based option is Beyond School Walls, where mentors meet one-on-one with 5th–8th graders at a corporate partner site. It's a great way for businesses to bring mentorship right into the workplace.
Another impactful program is Graduation Coaches, where volunteers help high school students build study habits, navigate peer relationships, and plan for life after graduation.
Free Arts
Free Arts is a unique BBBS program that blends mentorship with creative expression. Volunteers lead weekly art projects at community partner sites across the Twin Cities, helping youth explore their creativity while building strong relationships.
This initiative partners with local artists, social service agencies, and community organizations to bring arts programming to underserved neighborhoods, empowering youth through imagination and connection.
College and Future Readiness
Part of the Big Futures initiative, this program helps youth ages 12 and up prepare for life after high school. With support from mentors and staff, Littles explore college, careers, and scholarships, set goals, and build the skills they need to succeed.
From middle school through high school, and even into alumni life, BBBS provides holistic support focused on education, employment, and personal growth.
Community in Action
Beyond one-to-one matches, BBBS brings Littles, Bigs, and families together throughout the year. Their annual Back to School Bash welcomed more than 500 Littles, Bigs, and families with backpacks full of supplies and community resources. And The Big Hike, which Storm Creek was proud to help amplify last year, was featured in their 2025 Impact Report as a powerful call to action for more male mentors.
